Volvo Car recalls 372 EX30s over battery concerns

The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has announced that Volvo Car South Africa (SA) is recalling 372 Volvo EX30 single-motor extended range and twin-motor performance vehicles, with the model years 2024 to 2026.

According to Volvo Car SA, the recall is owing to a potential issue with the high-voltage battery.

“In rare cases, the battery may overheat when charged to a high level, which could potentially result in a thermal event, posing a fire risk.”

Owners of the affected vehicles are advised to limit their car’s maximum charge level to 70% until the necessary repairs are made.

The NCC says consumers are urged to take the recall seriously and arrange for vehicle inspection and repair at their nearest authorised dealership.

All corrective work will be carried out at no cost to the consumer.
